Another Bad Night, 0-2 - Down $22

Both of my losses, Purdue and Texas A&M weren't even close to covering while the Cavs pushed.

2-0, Up $10

Much better day yesterday as I made up for the losses the day before.

Today's Games

Phoenix Suns @ Cleveland Cavs (+8)
Penn St @ Purdue (-13)
Texas A&M @ Texas (-6.5)

In the first game I like the Cavs +8 over the Suns. The Cavs are finally home after their annual west coast trip in which they were destroyed. They have also lost 13 straight and something like 24 out fo their last 25. They have been hit hard by the injury bug, but they do get Boobie Gibson back tonight. They played Phoenix well a few weeks ago with a depleted roster and I expect them to do so again tonight. The Suns don't play much defense and that should give a boost to the offensively challenged Cavs. The Cavs also don't play much defense, but I think the Suns might have a hard time getting up for this game (especially one of the all-time slackers, Vince Carter). I'll take the points in what should be a closer than expected game. It also might be worth noting that I'm a Cleveland sports fan so I might have a little bias toward them, but I think I am right in this case.

In the second game I like Purdue. Penn State has been playing well lately, but that should end tonight against a very talented Purdue team that is upset after dropping two in a row.

In the third game I like the visiting Aggies. I have not seen either team play, but from what I can tell they both play good defense so it should be a close game. 6.5 points seems like a lot here.

Slow Start, 1-3, Down $23

I had a little bit of bad luck last night. I could have very easily went 3-1 and probably should have gone 2-2. I lost the UConn game by a 1/2 point and the Syracuse game by 2 points.

Portfolio: $789 (-14.3% return)
S&P 500: $1293 (40.1% return)

Today's Games

Atlanta Hawks @ Miami Heat (-6.5)
Colorado @ Nebraska (-3.5)

In the first game I like the Hawks to cover. I'm not sure they will win, but with Bosh out and James and Wade not at 100% I think this will be a close game. Plus, if either James or Wade aggravates their injury then the Hawks should easily take this game.

In the second game I like the Cornhuskers at home to cover. With the way Colorado has been playing lately this game just looks like a sucker bet.

Bets

$11 ATL +6.5
$11 NEB -3.5

Back For More

I was recently let go from my job (other than not getting paid it has been awesome) so I have been watching more sports on TV than I usually do. So I figured I might as well help some gamblers out there make money. I'll look at basketball, both NBA and college, but probably mainly college and also the remaining NFL playoffs. I would like to get my portfolio into the black so I can have some credibility, and once I do that I'll shoot for catching the S&P 500, which should probably collapse in the next year so it won't be as difficult as it currently looks.

Once again, I only have one rule and that is I will not risk any more than 5% of my portfolio on any bet. That is just good money management and I would advise all gamblers/stock traders to do the same.

Today's Games

Villanova @ Connecticut (-2.5)
Kansas State @ Missouri (-5)
Syracuse @ Pittsburgh (-6)
Kansas @ Baylor (+4)

In the fist game I like UConn over Nova. The opening line started at -1.5 and moved a whole point, and that tells me it was a soft line. Plus UConn is a pretty tough place to play as Nova has only won there once in the past 8 years.

In the second game I like Missouri over Kansas State. Missouri is one of the funnest teams to watch (along with Washington) as they get up and down the court at light speed. Missouri is just coming off a loss to Texas A&M and will want revenge while Kansas State is just not the same team as last year. I'm not worried about the 5 points because Missouri scores at will and should be able to pull away late in the second half.

In the third game I like Syracuse. I'm not sure they will win the game as Pittsburgh is one of the toughest places to play in all of college basketball, but I think it should be a close game. 6 points is a lot to give a team like Syracuse, especially with how good their defense has been playing this year.

In the fourth game I like Baylor at home. Kansas has struggled a little on the road so far and Baylor will look to turn their season around. I look for them to come out with a lot of energy in this game.

Bets

$11 UConn -2.5
$11 Missouri -5
$11 Syracuse +6
$11 Baylor +4
